Omar questions why text books of other religions ignored

Srinagar, Oct 22 (KNS): The  Jammu & Kashmir Government has directed School Education Department, Higher Education Department, Director Colleges, Director Libraries and Culture Department to consider purchasing of sufficient number of  copies each of Urdu version of “Shrimad Baghwat–Geeta” and “Koshur Ramayan”authored by SShri Sarwanand Premi for makes these available in schools and Colleges and Public Libraries of the state.
Meanwhile National Conference Vice President and Former Chief Omar Abdullah has raised questions on government’s decision in a tweet and asked why text books of other religions are being ignored.
An order issued by the School Education Department reads “School Education Department, Higher Education Department, Director Colleges, Director Libraries and Culture Department will consider purchasing of sufficient number of  copies each of Urdu version of “Shrimad Baghwat–Geeta” and “Koshur Ramayan”authored by Shri Sarwanand Premi for makes these available in schools and Colleges and Public Libraries of the state”.
Meanwhile National Conference Vice President and Former Chief Omar Abdullah has in a tweet said “Why just the Gita & Ramayana? If religious texts are to be placed in schools, collages & government libraries (and I’m not convinced that they need/should be) then why is it being done selectively? Why are other religions being ignored?” (KNS)
