Indoor stadiums to come up in every district of J&K

 Srinagar, Jan 11(KNS): Government is coming up with mega infrastructure across the J&K which includes construction of indoor stadiums in all districts.

 
A top official told KNS that Rs 80 crore is being spent in J&K for the construction of indoor stadiums in all the districts of J&K.
 
Rs 4 crore has been earmarked for the construction of each stadium in a district with the facilities at par with other states of India, he said.
 
The Sehpora Ganderbal and Udyhampur indoor stadium are already functional and construction of 6 more stadiums are complete and ready for inauguration.
 
It will boost the sports culture in the state and sports persons will can now continue playing sports during winter months and in evening hours, he said.
 
The official also said Youth Service and Sports department has devised a plan to create infrastructure according to the games mostly played in their respective areas. 
 
“Football stadium, artificial, basketball courts, volleyball courts and synthetic turf stadiums will be constructed at a cost of more than Rs 400 crore. The is the first time that such mega funding is spent on construction of sports infrastructure in J&K,” he added.
 
When KNS contacted Secretary Youth Services and Sports Department Sarmand Hafeez, he said, “Yes mega sports infrastructure is being developed in the state.”
