Srinagar, Feb 08 (KNS) Hundreds of illegal appointments were made by former Municipality Executive officers and former presidents in various Municipality committees and Municipal Councils of south Kashmir District in last 10 years.
According to KNS correspondent these illegal appointments were made by Executive officers and presidents in these committees and councils and recruited kiths and kins of politicians and other blue eyed persons.
According to reports these appointments were made in MCP Pulwama, MCS Shopian, MCK Kulgam, MCH Dooru, MCH Kokernag, MCM Mattan , MCP Pahalgam, MCS Seer , MCA Awantipora , MCT Tral, MC Ashmuqam and Municipal Council Anantnag.
Reports also said that government has also constituted a team of three members including Additional secretary Housing, Director Urban local Bodies , Deputy Director Uraban Local Bodies on the direction then government to look into the illegal appointments in these Municipal Committees. The report was later submitted to government.
But locals alleged that after submitting the report, no action was initiated against these illegal appointments.
Reports also said that in MC Frasbal,Yaripora, the former Executive officers have taken handsome amount for the illegal appointments.
The locals of the area have appealed the authorities to form a team to unearth illegal appointments. They also said present administration is making tall claims of transparency and accountability but no action was taken against those involved in illegal appointments.
The locals of the area also said some officer who have done these illegal appointments are still enjoying plum postings.
When KNS contacted Director Local Bodies Kashmir Reyaz Ahmad Wani and Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development regarding the illegal appointment in various committees, they assured of fair probe and action against officials.
Locals have appealed the Lt. Governor Garish Chandra Murmu and advisors to Governor, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) to look into these illegal appointments (KNS).
