‘Move reflects frustration of authorities’

Srinagar, Nov 26 (KNS): Hurriyat (M) denounced the authorities' decision of yet again placing the chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention, stating that the move reflects frustration on part of the authorities. APHC spokesman said the move to cage Mirwaiz frequently is aimed at barring him from carrying out his social, political and religious duties.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) strongly condemned the forces' action on Friday in which a teenage student Zahid Manzoor Mir of Nowshehra Zonimar was pumped with a full volley of pellets resulting in a serious damage to his vital organs like kidneys and gall bladder.
The spokesman said such incidents take place because of heavy presence of forces across downtown on every Friday turning entire old city into a military fortress.
The spokesman said that the huge presence in downtown on every Friday creates an atmosphere of terror and the Hurriyat has been time and again demanding that there should be no deployment of forces in downtown areas on Fridays but the government continues to ignore it.
Meanwhile, on the directions of Mirwaiz a delegation comprising Sofi Mushtaq Ahmad , Muhammad Shafi Khan, Peer Ghulam Nabi and Farooq Ahmed Saudagar went to SMHS hospital to inquire about the condition of injured Zahid.The delegation said they were told Zahid a class 11 student was on way back to his home after attending his examination and he was fired with full burst of pellets that damaged his vital organs forcing doctors to remove his kidney. The spokesman said condition of Zahid continues to be critical. (KNS)
