Hilal War placed under house arrest ahead of Badami Bagh march

Srinagar, Dec 16 (KNS): Ahead of the proposed protest march called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) towards Badami Bagh cantonment, Police on Saturday evening placed senior Hurriyat leader and People’s Political Party (PPP) Chairman, Engineer Hilal Ahmad War under house detention, a spokesman said.
“A large contingent of police headed by SHO Maisuma raided the Maisuma residence of War yesterday evening and placed him under house detention,” spokesman said ina statement issued to KNS.
Expressing a strong resentment, War said such tactics won’t bog down the freedom loving Kashmiris and their leadership.
He condemned the ‘highhandedness’ of the state police in strong words and said that “the sacrifices of Kashmiris will bear the fruit of freedom.”
War urged the United Nations to take a call on Kashmir without wasting anytime and expose brutalities in Kashmir and implement UN Security Council Plebiscite Resolutions in order to save the Kashmiris from ‘genocide’ and allow them to decide their political future as enshrined in United Nation Charter.
PPP spokesperson condemned the arrest of party chairman, saying “it amounts to State oppression and a denial of freedom of expression and peace-full assembly.” (KNS)
