Higher reaches receive fresh snowfall; MeT says weather to improve from Tuesday

Srinagar, Dec 10 (KNS): As the higher reaches received fresh snowfall this mooning, the Meteorological (MeT) department on Monday said that the weather conditions in the Valley will significantly improve from Tuesday.
Deputy Director MeT, Mukhtar Ahmad told KNS that the higher reaches including famous tourist destinations, Gulmarg, Sonamarg and others received a fresh snowfall of two to three inches today.
He said that the weather conditions in the Valley would start improving in the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday and there would be significant improvement in weather conditions from Tuesday.
Ahmad said there would be further dip in the night temperature after two days while as the day temperature will increase further.
He added there is no prediction of rains or snow till Dec 18. “According to the forecast, no rains of snow would occur at any place across the valley till Dec 18,” he said.
Meanwhile, the fresh snowfall also led to the closure of Mughal Road and Srinagar-Leh highway following the slippery conditions of the roads.
Authorities suspended the vehicular movement on Mughal Road and Srinagar-Leh highway soon after the higher areas there received fresh snowfall.
Officials said that the road will be reopened soon after the weather conditions would improve and the roads will be cleared. (KNS)
