Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS): Government of India’s special envoy Dineshwar Sharma on Sunday said that the he is yet to decide when to visit Jammu and Kashmir to hold talks with various delegations for sustainable peace.
Talking to KNS over phone from New Delhi, Sharma who was scheduled to visit the state by January 15 said that there hasn’t been any date finalised for his forthcoming date. “I was scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir but there hasn’t been any date fixed yet. I am yet to decide when to visit the state,” Sharma told KNS.
On 6 November, last year, Sharma embarked on his first visit to the state as the GOI appointed interlocutor. His appointment was termed by the government as a major initiative for the efforts related to the sustenance of peace in the strife torn Kashmir Valley.
On November 24, last year, Sharma made his second visit to Valley and met people in south Kashmir.
On December 26, last year, Sharma visited Kupwara district of north Kashmir where he met family members of Asif Iqbal, a sumo driver killed allegedly by the Army earlier last year. According to the reports, he assured justice to the family as police has already registered an FIR. He also met PDP and BJP delegations in Baramulla. (KNS)
