According to the statement issued to KNS, Qureshi said that “Chinar tree is our asset and cutting of such trees can deteriorate ecological balance. The cutting of such trees can also spark the protests as well.”
Qureshi said an hotelier has illegally grabbed the land in Shalimar while constructing the hotel nearer to the tree and has also caused damage to ‘Charri Boon’.
He also expressed his resentment against the officials of LAWDA, Revenue department and Chinar protection department, alleging that “the authorities are acting as mute spectator as they have been bribed over the matter.”
