Haphazard offices in Civil Secretariat irk people

Srinagar, May 30 (KNS): People going to Civil Secretariat for their grievance redressal and other official work have complained about haphazard arrangements of official rooms and clerical halls.

Several Secretariat going people told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that offices of top administrators of any department and its clerical hall are arranged in haphazard way that it becomes cumbersome to find offices.

They said that it is annoying for the people to ask every other person about the addresses of rooms of officials and clerical halls.

Civil Secretariat in Kashmir has more than 400 rooms which houses offices of administrative Secretaries to clerics.

However, all departments except the Industries and Commerce have scattered and haphazard rooms arranged for the bureaucrats, officials and clerical staff.

Industries Department is the only department which has all its offices located in single story and offices ore stretched adjacently to each other.

People coming from different parts of the state for their work or grievance redressal have to spent much of their time in finding addresses and rooms of the officers to register their grievances.

Several officials inside the Secretariat also complained that scattered arrangements of offices gives a bizarre look to the highest seat of power.

They said that haphazard official arrangements also annoys officials and the clerical staff as they have to move from one storey to another along with files or meetings.

“The administration should take note of this problematic arrangement and arrange rooms of a particular department in a particular storey so that it does not consume time and also does not hamper smooth work in the Secretariat,” Yasir Shah, a complainant said. (KNS)
