Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNS): Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Yaseen on Saturday called on Governor Satya Paul Malik at Rajbhawan, Srinagar and discussed prevailing socio-political issues in the state.

Hakeem Yaseen urged the Governor to lift restrictions on civilian movement on National Highway as it was badly affecting economy of the state especially fruit industry.

PDF chief also urged the Governor to release funds approved for the current fiscal as the developmental tempo in the state has been hampered due to non availability of adequate grants at the ground level.

Hakeem Yaseen asked the Governor to open newly sanctioned Degee colleges on merits in the deserving areas where there is no college facilities as yet.

Hakeem Yaseen invited the Governor to visit Doodhpathri and Tossamaidan tourist resorts to have first hand appraisal about the unmatched natural tourism beauty. He asked the Governor that both these tourist spots, despite being nearest to the summer capital, Srinagar, have been neglected by the successive dispensations on political grounds.

Hakeem Yaseen, while apprising the Governor about the vast tourism potential of Doodhpathri and Tossamaidan tourist resorts, sought his personal intervention for undertaking basic tourism infrastructure there. He complained that though a comprehensive DPR for construction of a Gandola project at Doodhpathri was prepared way back in 20003 but due political grudge, no work was started on this ambitious tourism project during last 15 years. Similarly, there was a dire need to construct Gulmarg-Tossamaidsn-Doodhpathri-Yousmarg tourism circuit to open new tourism attractions for the international and local tourists. He said the proposed tourist circuit would open new job opportunities for the local youth.

Governor gave a patient hearing to the pleas and assured appropriate action to redress the grievances. (KNS)
