Srinagar, Nov 25 (KNS): Chairman PDF Hakeem Yaseen has hailed opening of the Kartarpur corridor near international border at Wagah, Punjab for visa free journey to Sikh pilgrims to enable them visit the sanctum sanatorium of Gurunak Dev ji to paying their obeisance. He has hoped that this goodwill gesture would prove a harbinger for revival of good neighborly relations between India and Pakistan.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hakeem Yaseen while welcoming the move has said that this historical decision, besides fulfilling the long pending demand of the Sikh community, would pave a way for improving strained bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
“The opening ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor scheduled on 28 November would be a historic moment towards improving brotherly relations between the two nations,” Hakeem Yaseen hoped.
While congratulating both India and Pakistan for this his path breaking initiative, Hakeem Yaseen has called for following similar type of serious Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) on the same humanitarian spirit for bringing peace in the restive Jammu & Kashmir state where people have been suffering untold miseries due to strained relations between the two neighboring countries since 1947. He has appealed to the leadership of both the nations to bring flexibility in their respective stands and exhibit maturity to stop ongoing bloodbath and mayhem in the state." If there is will and wisdom, nothing can stop them to resolve the Kashmir problem on the basis of humanitarian grounds,” Hakeem Yaseen has maintained while making a passionate appeal to the leadership of India and Pakistan to initiate talks on Kashmir. He said opening of Kartarpur corridor across border was also a long pending demand since the time of partition which was seen all impossible till now. “Now that dust has been cleared so both the neighboring countries should make a new beginning to demolish all obstacles surrounding the Kashmir problem and hammer out an amicable solution to bring people of the two nations close to each other, Hakeem Yaseen has said adding that friendly relations between the two nations would be in the larger interests of their people in all respects, socially, economically and politically.
