Minister inspects proposed site for Tribal Bhawan & Museum

 Jammu, Nov 15 (KNS): Minister for Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that the government is mulling a comprehensive policy for welfare and development of tribal population. Minister stated this while inspecting the proposed site for prestigious project of Tribal Bhawan & Museum at Jagti here today.
To be constructed on 24 kanals of land and at an estimated cost of 73 crore, the Tribal Bhawan/Museum will house the office of Director and Deputy Director of Tribal Affairs Jammu along with lodging and boarding facilities for the people and a museum to exhibit the cultural heritage of tribal life.
The Minister asked the concerned officers to follow the guidelines and make sure that the site fulfils the essential aspects of flood management, road connectivity, approach road, transportation and alike.
Zulfkar directed the officers to work in synergy with JDA and other concerned agencies to streamline the process for the ambitious project. He also directed them to conduct surveys in this regard.
“With special focus on overall development of tribal people, special attention is given being given for the implementation of various schemes and programmes envisaging their welfare and development,” the Minister asserted.
Zulfkar said that the present era demands for ensuring basic amenities to tribal people for which determined efforts are being made by the government.
Stressing on adopting pragmatic approach, Zulfkar said that socio economic development of under privileged sections of the society is the priority of the government and various schemes have been launched to cater to their needs.
The Minister was accompanied by Secretary, Tribal Affairs Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Director, Tribal Affairs Mohammad Rafi, Secretary, Gujjar-Bhakerwal Advisory Board Mukhtar Ahmed along with senior functionaries of concerned departments. (KNS)
