Srinagar, Oct 10 (KNS): Former National Conference (NC) spokesman and candidate for the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections, Junaid Azim Matoo on Wednesday refused to react over the statement by Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik, saying that the state head can explain better what has said.
Matoo while talking to KNS said that he didn’t see Governor’s statement regarding the Mayor.
Earlier, Governor had stated that a foreign educated man will be the Mayor of Srinagar.
However, Matoo was quick to utter that “I am not a foreigner and I also didn’t see Governor’s remark as I remained busy with elections. So, I think it will to be apt for me to react over the statement. I believe the Governor can explain better what he had said.”
Matoo further added that the process is already there to elect the candidates and a mayor.
He further said that conduct of ULB elections is for the poor people, claiming that free and fair elections are going on. “We hope the candidates who are contesting will help poor after emerging as winner,” he said. (KNS)
