Srinagar, Jul 21 (KNS): Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday said that meaningful talks based on a clear agenda underlined by sincerity among the three stakeholders is an assured and peaceful way to resolve the conflict of Kashmir in all its forms and dimensions.
While welcoming the statement of Pakistan wherein they have said that demilitarization of troops in Jammu Kashmir, would lead to resolution of the vexed issue, Geelani in a statement issued to KNS hoped that it is aimed at bringing lasting peace in South Asia.
“We hope that Pakistan's demilitarization offer, optimism, spirit of flexibility would be reciprocated by India, to open new vistas of cooperation, resolution of all issues and particularly Kashmir issue in accordance with aspirations of people,” Geelani said.
Hailing Pakistan for its clear Kashmir policy, Geelani said that now it is India to reciprocate and added they should come clear on demilitarization offer of Pakistan.
Geelani said demilitarization in Kashmir would improve the atmosphere and conditions for the Kashmiris, who he alleged are subjected to continuous, suppressive measures and intimidation by Indian authorities and forces.
“We have invested heavily in our struggle for our right to self-determination and cannot afford to be part of an ambiguous effort that has no clarity and direction," Geelani added, saying “Indian leadership should shun their stubborn, haughty and colonial attitude and come forward for sorting out all issues particularly Kashmir issue.”
Geelani called for an end to the hostility between India, Pakistan, saying that composite dialogue between all stake holders will definitely make an end to hostility between two nuclear countries and will open avenues for peace and reconciliation in South Asia.
Meanwhile, Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned NIA for not presenting detainees in court, saying they are prolonging their cases on one pretext or the other.
Reiterating its concern over the plight of Kashmiri prisoners lodged in different jails and particularly in Tihar jail, saying that those arrested by NIA and ED are facing toughest times of their lives as they are not being presented on scheduled dates for hearing in respective courts.
Hurriyat said that Indian judiciary has already succumbed before the NIA. “It is evident by the fact that it is not passing a single bail order in favor of the Kashmiri prisoners despite the fact that ED or NIA has completely failed in proving any charges against the accused including Shabir Shah, Peer Saif Ullah , Altaf Ahmad Shah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj u Din Kalwal, Shahid ul Islam , Nayiem Ahmad Khan , Shahid Yousuf, Mohd Aslam Wani, Zahoor Watali and Farooq Ahmad Dar,” the statement said.
Hurriyat (G) said that it is a murder of justice. “Indian authorities through frivolous charges and delaying tactics are denying the justice. Those detained by NIA and ED are subjected political vendetta and New Delhi’s rhetoric for being world’s largest democracy proved hoax,” it added.
Hailing sacrifices of detainees and paying tributes, Hurriyat said that detainees are being targeted psychologically to force them to submission, however all these tactics won’t break their resolve, added Hurriyat.
Meanwhile, Geelani expressed his deep grief over the brutal and merciless killing of an innocent child Umar Farooq in Kupwara.
Geelani said that “we are shocked over the death of a budding kid and prayed for grieved family to bear this irreparable loss.”
He expressed his grief over the death of Mohd Ismaeel Gilkar, brother in law of incarcerated leader, Gh Mohammad Khan Sopori.
While extending his condolences to grieved family, Geelani said that his contribution for ongoing freedom movement is praiseworthy and he throughout his life faced hardships because of his affiliation with resistance movement. (KNS)
