'Reiterates his demand for return back of mortal remains of both martyrs'

Srinagar, Feb 07 (KNS): Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani paid rich tributes to the Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru on their martyrdom anniversaries.
While reiterating his demand for the return back of the mortal remains of both the martyrs who were buried in the Tihar Jail premises, Geelani said that although it is purely a human issue but India is very reluctant to this demand thereby violating all the principles of morality and constitution and in this way its claim of “largest democracy in the world” is getting badly exposed.
In a statement issued to KNS, Syed Ali Geelani said that Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru are heroes of the Kashmiri nation and we are proud of them. Kashmiri nation is resisting the forced and illegal occupation of India from past 70 years and during this period thousands of our valiant and bold people have sacrificed their precious lives for this cause but the Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru are two separate cases among these who were detained, executed and buried in the same jail and in same month.
Hurriyat (G) chairman said that Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat has a special status in the freedom struggle of Kashmir and if he can be termed as the first solider of the struggle then the Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru’s ‘last letter’ became a new milestone of the freedom struggle and set a new trend. His last letter clearly depicts that he was an ideological person and his emotions were having the backing of faith, intellect and conscience.
They are source of inspiration for us & the best way of paying tributes to them is that the nation should not forget these brave sons of the soil, who had sacrificed their “present” for the “future” of the nation.
Geelani said that the best way of paying tributes to the Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru is that the nation should not forget these brave sons of the soil who had sacrificed their “present” for the future of the nation. While reiterating his demand for the return back of the mortal remains of both the martyrs, Geelani sahib said that until the mortal remains are not returned back to their families, the whole nation will not let down this demand.
Meanwhile Hurriyat conference (G) condemned the arrest of its party spokesman, Gh Ahmad Gulzar, saying this is the highhandedness of the puppet regime to suppress the voice of the pro-freedom people & added that all these arbitrary measures won’t deter us from pursuing our cherished goal.
Blaming pro-Indian parties for prevailing mayhem in state Hurriyat said they have virtually turned state into a battle field.
By caging pro-freedom leadership, they are denying the political space and creating political uncertainty, said Hurriyat.
Lashing at state administration, Hurriyat said that “they have let lose the reign of terror and turned the state into a big jail’ ’and while referring to recent arrests of leadership, Hurriyat said that instead of facing resistance leadership on political turf, they are being caged against fabricated and fake cases. It is ploy to justify their illegal, immoral occupation, Hurriyat said.
Hurriyat while criticizing New Delhi and their local stooges, said that these repressive and suppressive measures won’t deter us from pursuing our mission, saying it failed in past and will yield nothing even in future.
Kashmir is essentially a political problem and we demand a just and lasting solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, said Hurriyat (G).
Hurriyat said repression, coercive measures and unrealistic approach won’t solve it, instead the unresolved Kashmir issue will complicate situations and lead to uncertainty in subcontinent. (KNS)
