Ganderbal resident runs ‘fake’ NGO, SSP says inquiry ordered

Ganderbal, Jul 15 (KNS): The residents of Batwina Ganderbal alleged that one person namely Nisar Ahmad Bhat of Baroosa Ganderbal is running a fake NGO and looting the state as well as central exchequer.

A group of residents of Batwina Ganderbal headed by Sarpanch Abdul Majeed Wani told KNS that an NGO with the name Style Kirmania Club Batwina was established in the year 1982 vide registration number 727-S by Mohammad Siddeq Najar of Batwina and due to various circumstances the club suffered a lot and was later abandoned.

“From the reliable sources, I came to know that one Nisar Ahmad Bhat resident of Barsoo Ganderbal with the help of two more persons has managed to get the registration of the NGO fraudulently from the registrar societies Bemina Srinagar and has got National Council of Promotion Urdu Language (NCPUL) centre by using fraud copy of the NGO thereby looting central exchequer,” Sarpanch alleged, adding that the accused has got around seven crores of rupees from different NGOs for Kirmania Club since past two years.

He further said that he has brought the issue into the notice of General Manager DIC Ganderbal who assured action in this matter.

Meanwhile, General Manager DIC Ganderbal in its letter vide number GM/DIC/GBL/Dev/2019/130 dated 5/2019, a copy of which lies with KNS reads Director Industries and Commerce Kashmir that there is no established office at its registered location, Batwina Ganderbal.

After preliminary investigation and on spot visit, it was observed that there is no established office at its registration location, Batwina Ganderbal and the members of the original managing body are no longer associated with the society and the society is presently not carrying out any of the activities for which it was registered, reads the letter.

GM DIC Ganderbal has further stated in his letter that regarding the complaint that the registration certificate of the society is used by some other person ,the interaction with the said person revealed that he has used the registration of Kirmania Club for getting an NCPUL centre after obtaining proper authorization from some of the members of the original managing body of the society as per verbal statement.

However, he has failed to produce any documentary evidence with regard to his claim as on date, the letter added.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ganderbal, Khalil Ahmad Poswal told Kashmir news Service (KNS) that he has recommended an inquiry into this matter.

“I have recommended an inquiry and have talked to Director Industries and Commerce as how come other persons are running the NGO fraudulently,” SSP said.

Meanwhile the residents of Batwina Ganderbal have also sought Governor's intervention in this matter so that the culprit is brought to book for deceiving innocent persons. (KNS)
