Fresh snowfall disturbs normal life in Kupwara

Tangdar (Kupwara), Jan 04 (KNS): Fresh snowfall disturbed normal life in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday as roads leading to border areas were closed for traffic movement.

Reports said the border villages of Karnah and Tangdar received 1 feet of snow while as upper reaches of Rajwar and Mawer received 6-8 inches of snow.

Meanwhile, SDM Tangdar Dr Bilal Mohi-u-din facilitated the passage of some vehicles carrying bodies of two persons who had died a natural death. Later the road was again closed for the traffic movement due to slippery conditions.

Similar reports were received from upper areas of Rajwar where the road has been closed due to accumulation of snow.

A resident of Bowan, Watsar Aijaz Ahmad told KNS that after heavy November 5 snowfall, the electricity supply in the area was restored after 28 days.

They have appealed the concern authorities to restore the power supply in the area at earliest and clear the roads leading to these areas (KNS).
