Srinagar, Jan 14 (KNS): The Chairperson (North Zone) KVIC Dr. Hina Shafi Bhat reviewed the activities of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in Punjab and asked for framing an elaborate action plan to revive the Khadi sector.
"An elaborate time bound action plan for revitalizing the KVI sector should be prepared which should include best utilization of existing infrastructure and resources and its up- gradation," she asked the officials during her visits to various Khadi villages in the northern state.
She said that economic sustainability on commercial line should be the focus without compromising the swadeshi spirit and legacy of Khadi.
"Efforts to be made to increase earning of artisans who are the backbone of Khadi activity," she said.
Dr Hina said that Khadi must be built as a robust brand and a healthy supply chain must be maintained to widen its presence in the market.
A synergy between Khadi and Village Industries and Institutions should be worked out to expand its presence in the domestic as well as overseas markets, she said.
