Srinagar, Nov 11 (KNS): Member Parliament from Srinagar and former J&K chief minister Farooq Abdullah Saturday said independence is not a viable option for landlocked Kashmir.
According to KNS correspondent, Abdullah, who is also president of National Conference, said that independent Kashmir was not a reality as “we were landlocked and surrounded by nuclear powers China, Pakistan and India”.
According to the KNS correspondent, he said that the truth is that Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK) belongs to Pakistan and J&K belongs to India. “In plain terms let me tell to one and all that PaK belongs to Pakistan and this side to India. It is something that won’t change, even if they (Indo-Pak) fight how many wars they want to,” said Abdullah.
He refused to comment about the Hurriyat’s demand for plebiscite as per the UN resolutions saying, “Farooq Abdullah is not part of Hurriyat. I can’t talk on behalf of or about Hurriyat.”
Abdullah as per the KNS correspondent said J&K is a landlocked state which has China on one side, Pakistan on the other side and India on the third side. “These all the three countries are nuclear powers. We have nothing except Allah’s name. Those who are talking about Azadi are talking wrong,” he said.
Stating that India betrayed Kashmiris and didn’t treat us well, Abdullah said India failed to recognize the love of Kashmiris with which we chose to join them. “That is the reason behind the prevailing situation in Kashmir,” he said.
Reiterating fresh demand of internal autonomy of the state, he said internal autonomy is our right. “They should restore internal autonomy and then only peace will return.”
About the Instrument of Accession signed by the Maharaja with the Government of India, Abdullah said people who talk about Instrument of Accession that way it suits them should know and not forget the conditions on which Kashmir has acceded to India. (KNS)
