Farooq Abdullah bats for autonomy, CBMs at Kolkata conference

Srinagar, Jan 11 (KNS): National Conference president and three time former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah has reiterated his demand for restoration of autonomy, confidence building measures and talks with all stakeholders particularly Hurriyat Conference to end the political stalemate and spree of civilian killings in Kashmir.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), addressing a panel discussion organised by Centre for Peace and Progress at Kolkata, the former chief minister said, “restoration of autonomy and dialogue with separatists particularly Hurriyat Conference is the key t6 restoration of peace and polit5cal stability in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Alleging that the central government does not take any initiative to address the core concerns in Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah said, “As long as the initiatives are not taken, trust deficit can’t be removed which is a must for the progress of any dialogue initiative in Jammu and Kashmir.”
Among others who attended the conference include, former army chief and sitting parliament member General Shanker Roy Chowdhary, Lt. General J R Mukherjee, Sabyasachi Bagchi, (Sr. Political Leader), Dr. Faub Halim-CPM and Nandlal Shah. (KNS)
