Srinagar, Oct 22 (KNS): Family members of chairman Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani were denied permission to meet ailing Geelani on Saturday.
The elder son of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani was arrested to prevent him from calling on his ailing father.
He was whisked away by the police from the entry gate (of Geelani’s residence) and lodged in Humhama police station,” family sources told KNS.
They said that Mehbooba Mufti breaks down at the mention of his father but still denies us right to enquire and meet our ailing father.
“Mehbooba Mufti breaks down every time his father’s name is mentioned. We want to know which law prohibits a son from inquiring about his ailing father,” they asked.
Earlier, the younger son of Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said that he was not allowed to meet his father at his residence in Hyderpora in Srinagar.
Naseem Geelani said that he was disallowed to meet at his father when he reached outside his residence at 10:30 am.
“A contingent of government forces posted outside his (Geelani’s) house didn’t allow me to meet my father,” said Naseem.
The move coincides with Geelani’s “address to the nation”, scheduled for today morning. (KNS)
