FIR against Ex Director ULB & former BMO, RTI Movement hails ACB's efforts

Srinagar Sept 24 (KNS): Jammu & Kashmir RTI Movement has appreciated Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for taking cognizance of two complaints filed by them as a formal FIR has been registered against a former Director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir and an ex Block Medical Officer (BMO) from district Baramulla.
In a statement issued to KNS reads, Chairman RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat in a statement said that after a long struggle senior member of RTI Movement Sirajudin Salam from Baramulla obtained the information under RTI Act from Department of Health and Urban Local Bodies. The information was denied initially but we fought the case until matter reached the then State Information Commission (SIC).
“In case of the health department a former BMO of health Department posted in district Baramulla had allotted all the sanitation , laundry and canteen contracts to his close relative who was not entitled for the said work as he had actually got registration for selling cement. The matter was brought into notice of Anti-Corruption Bureau Baramulla wing more than 6 months back and a formal FIR was registered against the health officer and proprietor of the company and few more people vide FIR No: 04/2020 dated 29.08.2020 “ reads statement
"In another case huge money was misappropriated by the ex-Director of Urban Local Bodies several years back under housing for all schemes . More than 150 beneficiaries were denied 2nd and 3rd installment of money under Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) and when the matter was exposed through RTI , ACB registered a case and recently a formal FIR was registered in this case as well vide FIR No: 12/ 2020 ACB Srinagar Dated: 10.9.2020" said Sirajudin Salam RTI activist who exposed this scam
"We appeal ACB to take cognizance of our expose made in Loolipora Budgam and Tarzoo Sopore wherein around 200 BPL families have been looted by the officials of Food and Civil Supplies Department as subsidized rice meant for BPL was sole on exorbitant rates" statement added (KNS)
