Srinagar, March 18 (KNS): Srinagar Mayor Junaid Matoo today said all the trade activities except chemist and druggist shops, essential commodity shops has been suspended in Srinagar city.
Matoo said this during a presser at SMC complex here. Earlier he held various meetings with representatives of trade bodies, transporters, bank officials, religious leaders and representatives of other associations.
According to the Matoo, every organisation voluntarily extended their cooperation to the administration.
“Happy to share every representative of every organisation happily volunteered to support the steps of administration in minimizing the spread of the Coronovirus,” he said.
“It was decided that every business activity, public transport will remain suspended except the chemist and druggist shops, essential commodity shops, like vegetable sellers, food items,” he said.
He added that special squad of SMC held a disinfection drive in 300 meters of area around the house of positive person in Khanyar area.
“We have no shortage of chemicals for carrying disinfection drive in whole city. We will start this drive in every part of Srinagar city in coming days. Whenever we will receive report about any persons detected positive in any area of Srinagar, we will start intensive disinfection drive there. The chemicals we use disinfect the place for 21 days,” he said.
SMC Mayor also said that 8 camps of SMC in association with Traffic police and transport department will disinfect public transport in different area of Srinagar.
He also said that religious leaders of all religions also extended their cooperation in educating and informing the public about the Dos and Don’ts during their daily life particularly in religious places. (KNS)
