Srinagar, Feb 07: Estates department in Jammu has constituted a special team to identify all illegal occupants of its property.
Sources told KNS that the team after conducting inspection has identified 215 sets thus far which are illegally occupied.
Sources said that the department has decided to take strict action against the old occupants who over the years have violated the rules by making additions and alterations in the residential Quarters without proper permission from the department.

The department had this week reprimanded the different departments for failing to inform it of the transfer and retirement of its employees due to which it is facing difficulty in evicting the unauthorized occupants.
Financial Commissioner Estates department, B B Vyas had in an order on Thursday directed the departments to endorse a copy of the retirement notification and transfer orders “as and when issued to the Estates department to bring about greater transparency and efficiency in its working.”
“It is necessary that Estates department is kept informed of subsequent transfers and postings of the allottee employees so that concomitant changes could be made in the allotted accommodation,” he had said.
The Estates department had said the departments while issuing transfer orders and retirement notification do not inform the Estates department about the same. “This creates unnecessary information gaps and delays in the process relating to eviction, allotment and any changes in allotment,” he had said.
