‘Initiate dialogue with Hurriyat, other stakeholders’: Mehbooba

Srinagar, Jan 09 (KNS): While India is making constructive efforts to engage Taliban in talks, autonomy for Tibet and Tamil areas in Srilanka but shows less encouragement and projects double standards when it is the resolution of Kashmir-issue, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti tweeted reaching a common denominator after earlier twitter battle.
In a direct onslaught on Government of India for its sluggish approach towards resolving Kashmir-conundrum, National Conference vice president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah says, “Engagement for Taliban, Operation All-Out for Kashmir brim double standards of the central government.”
He tweeted, “We bat for talks with Taliban, autonomy for Tibet & Tamil areas of Sri Lanka yet we are unwilling to look at engagement or political initiatives in J&K. Why is our policy all about “do as we say, don’t do as we do”? Engagement for Taliban, Operation All-Out for Kashmir.”
Pertinently, President Peoples Democratic P-arty (PDP) and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti also criticized the response of the Government of India towards the resolution of K-issue and tweeted that on one hand Army General is advocating talks with Taliban and on the other he is not advocating the same for Kashmir. She says, Government of India should accept peace offer from Pakistan, initiate dialogue with Hurriyat and other stakeholders put an end to the vicious cycle of violence in J&K.
She tweeted
“If the Army Chief can advocate for talks with Taliban then why different standards when it comes to our own people? Accept peace offer from Pakistan, initiate dialogue with Hurriyat and other stakeholders put an end to the vicious cycle of violence in J&K.”
Interestingly, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba were seen in a verbal fight on twitter over Mehbooba’s visit to a militant family which was criticized by the former as a shameful act of garnering votes for the upcoming elections. However, the two leaders have reached a common ground that central governments have always remained insincere towards the resolution of Kashmir issue. (KNS)
