ECI to take final call on elections in JK: Governor

Srinagar, Mar 05 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya pal Malik, Tuesday said final decision regarding conduct of polls in Jammu and Kashmir will be taken by the Election Commission of India ECI).
Notably, ECI is on two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir and convened several meetings with the mainstream political parties and top functionaries of government regarding the conduct of polls.
The political parties while meeting the ECI team have pitched for simultaneous parliamentary and assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, saying concurrent elections in JK are in the interests of people.
Meanwhile, asked about the elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Governor while talking to reporters in Jammu today said, team headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) will be briefing the media persons regarding the elections before leaving for New Delhi.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, the Governor further added that the ECI will itself take the final call on polls in the State. (KNS)
