Srinagar, Mar 23 (KNS): Deputy Mayor Srinagar Sheikh Mohammad Imran Saturday urged Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to allocate separate designated parking and community toilet for media fraternity in the Press Enclave.

In a letter to SMC Commissioner, Imran said that parking is the main issue in the colony and everybody is seen parking their vehicles in the Press Enclave which is a matter of concern for media fraternity.

“Allotment of CTPT (community Toilet & Public toilet) for media/journalist fraternity and separate designated parking for media /journalist fraternity at press enclave,” reads a letter.

Imran said, “They will not compromise on the security of our journalist fraternity which is regarded as the fourth pillar of democracy,” he said adding that separate designated parking space will be made for the fraternity.

He said there is long demand for CTPT in press colony and as successive governments have neglected this grave issue.

“I have written a fresh letter to SMC Commissioner, hope he will look into the issue as possible,” Imran said.

“Parking designated for media fraternity and washrooms will be built on a priority basis and there would be no comprised on these issues facing media fraternity,” he said. (KNS)
