Dr Farooq visits Mela Kheer Bhawani

Srinagar, Jun 10 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Monday visited Kheer Bhawani Mela on Monday and extended warm greetings to Kashmiri Pandit community on the annual festival being held at the shrine.
Party president met Kashmiri devotees on the occasion and felicitated them on the observance of annual festival. “The festival is a glaring example of Hindu Muslim unity. Festivals like these bring people together and help bring the two communities together. This particular festival reflects the inter religious camaraderie and communal harmony in a state like that of ours. Our state in particular the valley as always been an immaculate illustration of unity in diversity of cultures, faiths and traditions. I hope for an early return of our Kashmiri pundit brethren to their homes. The pluralistic culture of Kashmir is incomplete without our Kashmiri pundit brethren. May the occasion increase the prospects of peace and prosperity in the state in particular the valley. On this occasion I pray for peace, harmony and unity of our state. I also look forward to a time when Kashmiri pundits will live along side their Kashmiri Muslim brethren in the valley.”
Party president was accompanied by Provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar, Dr Sameer Koul, Vijay Baqaya, and Bhushan Lal Bhat.
Later party president paid a visit to Charar e sharief where he paid obeisance at the Shrine of patron Saint of Kashmir Hazrat Sheikh Noor Ud Din Noorani (RA). Party president while paying obeisance at the shrine supplicated for peace and properity to the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Senior leader Abdul Rahim Rathar accompanied the party president. (KNS)
