Dr. Farooq underscores need of planting trees on Arbor Day

Srinagar, Mar 20 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and vice president Omar Abdullah have extended warm greeting to the people of state on the occasion of Nawroz-e-Alam.
Party president Dr. Farooq while greeting the people said, “Nawroz means ‘new day’, I hope the day acts as a harbinger of prosperity and peace in the state. I extend warm greeting to the people especially our Shia brethren on the occasion.”
Party vice president Omar Abdullah while greeting the people, said, “I extend my warm greeting to people on the observance of Nawroz-e-Alam, may the days bequeath the state with everlasting peace, harmony and prosperity. Festivals like these add to the cultural mosaic of our state.”
The duo has also extended greeting to the people on the festive occasion of Holi. The duo while greeting people on Holi said that Holi is a festival of love, colour, and rejuvenation.
Party senior leaders general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar, additional general secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, Muhammad Akbar Lone, chief spokesperson Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Shareef Ud din Shariq,Javaid Ahmad Dar, Aga Syed Mahmood, Ali Muhammad Dar, Irfan Ahmad shah, Pir Afaq, Shameema Firdous, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Firoz Ahmad khan, G M Mir, Basharat Bukhari, Tanvir Sadiq have also extended warm greeting to the people on the occasion of Nawroz-e-Alam.
Meanwhile Dr. Farooq while highlighting the importance of Arbor Day that is to be celebrated on 21st March, said, “Our celebrated Saint Hazrat Sheikh Ul Alam, Nund Reshi, (RA) has centuries ago underscored the importance of tress for the sustenance of human life with his word: food is subservient to forests. I urge the people especially children to come forward and plant trees and plants at their level also. The government too should embark on a development plan that is sustainable and eco-friendly.” (KNS)
