Srinagar, May 24 (KNS): Joining the outrage against the army major who was rewarded by the Army General for counterinsurgency operations, former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday said that the court of inquiry being carried by the army against the officer is “farce”.
“In future, please don't bother with the farce of a military court of inquiry. Clearly the only court that matters is the court of public opinion,” Omar wrote on Twitter.
“And international conventions like the Geneva/Vienna ones only count when India can accuse others of violations. Do as we say, not as we do,” the National Conference working president said.
Omar was reacting to honoring of the army Major Leetul Gogoi by Army chief General Bipin Rawat with a ‘Commendation Card’ "for his in counter-insurgency operations efforts.
The army Major is accused and investigated by police of using a civilian as human shield during by-polls in April in Budgam. (KNS)
