Complainant says “shops outside garden encroached illegally”

Srinagar, Nov 06 (KNS): following the complaint received against the illegal shops located outside Cheshmashai garden, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan on Tuesday directed the Vice Chairman Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) to take action against the illegally raised shops if any.
Earlier, a complaint was filed by Advocate Asif Bashir, Chairman of Human Rights Forum before Div Com Kashmir with the submission that the shops located outside the gate of Cheshmashai garden has been encroached illegally and having no permission from any authorized department.
“As such during the year of 2010, the minister of horticulture and floriculture also made a decision to start a demolition drive, which has been delayed so far,” the complainant had said in a letter to Div Com on 06/11/2018.
“During the gap of eight years, no action has been taken either by floriculture dept or LAWDA towards encroachment, which points towards involvement of officials and reveals their gainful interest in the matter,” the complainant added.
Following the complaint, Div Com has directed VC LAWDA to take action.
The LAWDA VC after receiving the directed has passed orders to DySP LAWDA to take necessary action under law against Kiosks/Shops at Cheshmashai Srinagar.
He also asked the officer to give feedback after disposal of complaint in two days. (KNS)
