District Administration Pulwama uses Drone to check deforestation and timber smuggling

Pulwama, May 16 (KNS): For the first time District Administration Pulwama made use of drone to have an aerial view of the deforested area along with tracing the trails of illegal timber smuggling.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), District Administration has procured hi-tech drones to keep necessary check on illegal mining illegal felling of trees and other activities. “It will help in better land use planning and reconciliation of cadastral maps with revenue records”, District Magistrate Pulwama Dr Raghav Langar said.
He said, “The drone will also help the Administration in future to identify large chunks of vacant land for kick-starting new developmental projects”.
Dr Langar added that it has become imperative to impede the illegal mining in the district as most of the material is illegally lifted from the nallah’s and quarries in the district. He said introducing of UAV drones for surveillance will help the administration in curbing the illegal mining and has become necessary to ensure the compliance to the mining and environmental plans.
