Advises parents to ensure complete attendance of students in schools

Srinagar, Jan 21 (KNS): As per the instructions of Minister of Education and in order to get first hand reasons about dismal performance of some schools of Kashmir Valley, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo today conducted a comprehensive tour of far flung Tehsil Uri of District Baramulla.
Director Education interacted with students, teachers, parents and members of Civil society and advised the Chief Education Officer concerned to start remedial classes forthwith for students who could not pass 10th class examination.
Director Education visited far flung High School Dhani Syeda, Uri and interacted with civil society. During his interaction it came to fore that the dismal performance of students in recently held BOSE examinations had reasons behind.
On the one hand if there was dearth of teaching staff and required infrastructure in schools, on the other hand parents were equally responsible for the poor performance of their children as it was revealed by parents and civil society itself that during the peak academic season, students mostly remained absent from schools and were instead engaged with non-academic domestic jobs.
Director Education advised the parents to ensure complete attendance of students in schools so that their precious time does not go waste. Director Education expressed satisfaction over the excellent results shown by some schools of the area where not only 90-100% results were achieved but scores of students have achieved distinctions in 10th and 12th class examinations.
During his visit Director School Education ordered for immediate walling and floor tiling of High School Dhani Syeda and advised the Chief Education Officer, Baramulla and ZEO concerned to make frequent visits to the schools located in hilly and unreachable areas.
Representatives from Civil Administration, prominent members of Civil Society and Educational Administrators assured Director Education that no stone will be left unturned in achieving the best possible results in future from Government schools.
Joint Director Trainings (Principal SIE), who has been assigned the duty to be the Nodal officer of monitoring the remedial classes, also interacted with the students and parents. Chief Education Officer, Baramulla Abdul Ahad Insha, Naib Tehsildar Uri, Basharat Rasool, DEPO Baramulla, Mehraj ud din, Cultural Officer DSEK, GN Shakir, State Media Coordinator, Education, Fayaz Ahmad Fayaz and other officers accompanied Director throughout the visit.
