Rek teacher appealed PM Lt. Governor to arbitrate the matter

Srinagar, May 14 (KNS): Despite working as frontline workers in Youth Service & Sports department, Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers (ReKs) are getting mere @3000 as their monthly salary in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers working in YSS department told news agency--Kashmir News Service (KNS) that they have been working on the frontline every time but despite that they are getting mere Rs 3000 per month.

"Whether it is Covid-19, elections or any eventuality we work more than a permanent employee but no body cares about our salaries," Said Mohd Imran Dar an Rehbar-e-Khel Teacher.

"With no insurance or any other health benefit, no of Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers are on duty, day and night in Quarantine Centers," he said adding that imagine the plight of their families if some one among them are dead in the line of duty.

The ReKs are a well qualified lot which includes the candidates with B.A, B.P.E, B.Ped M.Ped, Mphill, Phd. Some are NET,SET, qualified. “But we face humiliation every morning after we have to ask our parents for bus fare or pocket money,” aggrieved ReKs employees said.

They said that the little salary has pushed them to state of depression particularly the ones who are married and have to support a family.

“Our families are at the verge of starvation, how we can feed our family from the meager salary of Rs 3000. The employees said.

They said that the government should consider the situation of Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers and announce a hike in the monthly remuneration besides come with a new modifying Job policy for them.

“Most of the ReK employees are losing the hope of living, self-confidence because we are disappointed with the current situation we are going through,” they added.

They urged the higher authorities to increase their monthly salary. Pertinently, there are around Three thousand ReKs in Jammu and Kashmir who were engaged
