‘Hope peaceful polling in Baramulla, Jammu parliamentary constituencies’

Srinagar, Apr 10 (KNS): Director General Police Dilbagh Singh on Wednesday said that police and paramilitary contingents have reached polling stations and situation is in full command in five police districts of Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency and four police districts of Jammu parliamentary constituency scheduled to go to polls on Thursday, April 11.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS) DGP said, “The police and paramilitary forces have reached polling stations in five police districts of Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency and four police districts of Jammu Lok Sabha constituency,” adding that “situation is in full command as all security arrangements are in place and besides district SPs, the commandants of armed police battalions have been also engaged with the security arrangements for first phase of parliamentary polls in Baramulla and Jammu parliamentary constituencies.”

Saying that zonal sectors have been established to ensure security alertness in all the poll bound districts in both Baramulla and Jammu Lok Sabha constituencies, DGP Dilbagh Singh said, “hope that Thursday’s first phase polling of parliamentary elections will be peaceful and people will come out to vote without fear on their own will.”

Meanwhile reports said security has been beefed up in all the five police districts of Baramulla parliamentary constituency and checking of vehicles at sensitive security spots has been intensified. The government has already declared holiday in the poll bound districts of Baramulla and Jammu Lok Sabha constituencies on Thursday and Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for valley wide shutdown tomorrow on the eve of first phase of polling in Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.
