Meets Governor, discusses Kashmir security scenario

Srinagar, Jun 25 (KNS): The Defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, visited the Chinar Corps today to review the overall security situation prevailing in the Valley.
She was accompanied by Army chief General Bipin Rawat. On her arrival she was received by Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, Northern Army Commander and Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander at army airbase Srinagar. The Defence minister was briefed about the security and administrative arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra on ground. She was subsequently updated by the Chinar Corps Commander in Badami Bagh Cantonment on the latest security scenario in the Kashmir Valley including Counter Infiltration and Counter militancy Operations. She appreciated the effectiveness of the intelligence and operational grids and commended the commanders and troops for the operational successes.
Later in the evening, the defence minister also interacted with the Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and discussed with him the overall security situation in the Valley. (KNS)
