Such events were must to aware people about preparedness: ADC

Budgam, Feb 21 (KNS): District Disaster Management Authority Budgam Wednesday organized a day long training programme for awareness of community for preparedness to combat disasters and minimize loss of life and property here at DIET Centre in Beerwah.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mohammad Farooq Dar was chief guest on the occasion.
The daylong training programme was attended by scores of volunteers and locals of Beerwah area.
Speaking on the occasion ADC said, such events were must to aware people about preparedness and response towards different natural and manmade disasters to mitigate the losses of life and property.
He said the Kashmir being vulnerable to different disasters, there was need of community involvement in disaster management for its immediate and effective response during the crisis.
On the occasion technical experts from SDRF, Civil Defence, Home Guards, Health and other departments deliberated on different disaster mitigation related topics, while as live demonstrations about immediate and effective response towards different disasters were also presented.
The technical experts along with volunteers also presented a live demonstration of safe evacuation of trapped from the disaster hit structures and buildings.
On the occasion, AD Fire & Emergency Services Raj Kumar Raina through power point presentation spoke about preventions to avoid fire like disasters and response to face such crises. Deputy Controller Civil Defence Budgam Abdul Majeed also spoke on different disasters and preparedness to mitigate the losses of life and property. (KNS)
