Day-2 Srinagar Jammu national highway remains closed

Srinagar Jan 14 (KNS):  The only road that connects Kashmir valley to rest of the world on Tuesday remained closed for the 2nd consecutive day after fresh snowfall in the area on Monday.
 
Reports said Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed on Monday after fresh snowfall and rains lashed the Kashmir valley.  More than 3000 vehicles are reported to be stranded on 264-km long highway.
 
A Traffic police official told KNS that the National Highway was closed for vehicular traffic on Monday morning due to the heavy snowfall. He said road became slippery due to snowfall in Jawahar Tunnel area since last evening and the movement of vehicles was also suspended in Banihal-Qazigund section as well.
 
SP Rural Muzzafer Shah told KNS that the clearance operation on the national Highway is going on and no fresh traffic will be allowed till the road is cleared. He added the men and machinery are on job to clear the road .
 
Shah has appealed the commuters not to start their journey from the either side of the road before knowing the status of the road  form the nearest traffic units (TCU).
 
It is to mention that the road got blocked several times form November last year and the result the commuters are facing the problems to reach their respective destinations (KNS).
