Amid tight security arrangements, LG Murmu to be accorded Guard of Honor,

Srinagar, Nov 03 (KNS): Ahead of opening Darbar Move in winter capital Jammu on Monday, tight security arrangements have been put in place in Jammu city. However, the first Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Girish Chandra Murmu will be given guard of honor.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), in winter capital Jammu, civil secretariat and other move offices will open today where Lieutenant Governor Murmu will be accorded Guard of Honor. Sources said, in the morning, LG Murmu will join the ceremony where he will be accorded Guard of Honor by the bands of police and other forces.

LG Murmu is the first official who is receiving Guard of Honor after Central Government took away special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 on August 5.

Sources said, later on LG Murmu will chair a high level meet of administrative secretaries where he will pass on directions related to functioning of the departments in Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention that the first LG G C Murmu had earlier chaired high level meet in Srinagar where heads of all departments were present. During the meet he was given introduction of all senior bureaucrats by Chief Secretary B V R Subhramanyam. At the occasion he received details about functioning of crucial departments and passed on imperative directives to the concerned officials.

However, ahead of opening Darbar Move in winter capital Jammu, tight security arrangements have been put in place to avert any untoward incident.

Police sources said, as the Darbar is going to adorned, tight security arrangements have been made. They said, in Civil Secretariat and other security installations, security forces have been asked to remain alert. “Forces have been asked to keep close vigil ahead of opening of Darbar in Jammu. Keep close eye on anti-peace elements and make all CCTV’s functional to foil any misadventure by elements inimical to peace”, police told KNS.

According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), sources said, police have erected barricades in sensitive areas where vehicles are being frisked and commuters investigated. He added, security forces have deployed sharp shooters in and around Civil Secretariat where LG Murmu will be accorded Guard of Honor. (KNS)
