Daily 23 hour power cut hits working of distt hospital, business centres in Handwara

Srinagar, Apr 25 (KNS): Daily 23 hour power cut after the shifting of main power transformer to a workshop for repairs has hit working of main facilities at district hospital Handwara and other business centres in the main town.

As per Kashmir News Service (KNS) correspondent, the power transformer damaged due to mishandling by the local PDD staffers was taken to a workshop for repairs but is yet to be brought back even after a laps of 15 days.

The non availability of main power transformer has forced the Power Development Department (PDD) to reduce the power supply just to one hour a day and consequently the working of main appliances including CT scan at district hospital Handwara, the main filtration plant in the town catering to the water requirement of a huge population and main business centres has been hit severely making people to suffer for the want of health and water facilities.

Repeated assurances from additional deputy commissioner Handwara and SE PDD have fallen flat as the damaged power transformer lying in the workshop for repairs is yet to be brought back to restore the normal power supply in the town. (KNS)
