Srinagar, Jan  20 (KNS) : The Department of Information & Public Relations is making all efforts to facilitate the media fraternity in the due discharge of their professional duties.

Interacting with KNS, Director, Inf & PR, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar said already the Department has set up a Media Facilitation Centre at Media Complex, Srinagar where daily more than three hundred journalists avail facilities of internet.

So far more than 50, 000 such internet sessions have been availed of by the members of Media fraternity ever since such a facility was established by the Department on August 10, 2019. There are more than 16 computers equipped with a high end internet connectivity available from 9 am to 11 pm daily without a break or holiday. The MFC, she said, operated despite weather vagaries and every back up support has been made available for the purpose.

Dr. Sehrish said the Centre is being manned by a dedicated team of officers who work round the clock for facilitation of media persons. She said the Department is working for further facilitating media persons in more ways than one. She stressed on close coordination between the Department and the media fraternity to get their day to day issues resolved on priority. She said though no timeline has been fixed by the Government for restoration of internet in rest of the districts, the authorities are reviewing the situation on daily basis.

The KNS informs its readers that the timeline regarding restoration of internet to media houses attributed to Dir Information in yesterday's bulletin was inadvertently used. (KNS)
