DGP visits Bhaderwah, takes review of upcoming jail

Srinagar, Apr 19 (KNS): Director General Police Dilbag Singh, who also holds the charge of DG Prisons visited Bhaderwah today and took stock of the status of Bhaderwah jail. He was accompanied by SSP Doda, Addl SP Bhaderwah, Addl DC Bhaderwah and CO CRPF during the visit.

SP jail Razak Malla, briefed the DGP and took him around the premises of the jail which is almost ready to be made functional.

Only finishing touches to the building, water connection and electric supply is needed which would be in place in next couple of days.

Earlier the jail used to function from a historical Bhaderwah fort building which was handed over to the department of Archeological survey of India and converted into a museum. New jail works were started some 2/3 years back, which is now ready to be used soon.

The jail has an approximate capacity to hold 200 prisoners. Required jail staff is already posted. Additional staff and security component shall be deployed soon.

During the visit DGP also reviewed security arrangements at Bhaderwah town with COs of the local army and CRPF units, SSP Doda, Additional SP Bhaderwah and Additional DC Bhaderwah.

With this jail coming up a long standing requirement of a jail for district Doda shall be met. This would also house inmates from other places.

DGP complimented SSP Doda and his team for peaceful conduct of elections yesterday and SP jail for his dedicated work in making the jail functional. (KNS)
