Denounces army firing on people in Walarhama Pahalgam

Srinagar, Oct 18 (KNS): Expressing serious concern over the extension of judicial remand of party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah and other resistance leaders, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) said this is done under a well thought out plan to prolong their incarceration.
In a statement issued to KNS, a DFP spokesperson said Shabir Ahmad Shah was arrested in a decade old fabricated case the motive behind which was to prevent him from discharging his duty towards the freedom movement.
He said the case was closed by court which also ordered honourable release of all the accused.
“The arrest of resistance leaders by NIA and Enforcement Directorate and subjecting them to media trial where campaigns were started to malign their image, is a shameful act and based on political vengeance,” he said.
These leaders are subected to inhuman treatment in jails and kept among hardcore criminals, he said.
The spokesperson appealed to global human rights organisations to take cognisance of the continuous detention of leaders like Shabir Ahmad Shah, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Aasiya Andrabi, Masarat Alam Bhat, Dr Qasim Faktoo, Shafi Shariati, Fehmeeda Sofi, Mushtaq ul Islam, Muhammad Afzal, Muhammad Rafiq Ganaie, Muhammad Shaban Khan, Merajuddin Naikoo, Farooq Tawheedi, Muhammad Ramzan Khan, Abdul Ahad Parra, Abdul Gani Bhat, Mufti Abdul Ahad, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah,
Farooq Ahmad Dar, Mir Hafizullah, Altaf Ahmad Shah and dozens of other resistance leaders and activists.
Meanwhile, taking strong notice of army firing on innocent people at Walarhama, Pahalgam, the spokesperson said on one hand, attacks on women at the behest of army continue and on other hand, those protesting against such shameful acts are being showered with bullets and pellets.
Slamming the government for shielding culprits of braid chopping, thespokesperson said no stone is left unturned in identifying and then booking of innocent youth but nothing is being done to nab the culprits which gives a clear proof that the braid chopping is state sponsored.
The spokesperson also paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Showkat Falahi saying with his martyrdom we lost a religious scholar. He expressed condolence and solidarity with the bereaved family. (KNS)
