Srinagar, Nov 28 (KNS): Expressing serious concern over the reports of thrashing and injuring 13 Kashmiris out of 18 prisoners of Tihar jail, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party has said that the ghastly act has put the lives of all Kashmiri political prisoners including its ailing chairman Shabir Shah in danger.
In a statement issued to KNS, the party has said that beating and injuring prisoners inside jails is a shameful act and needs not only condemnation but direct action from human rights groups.
The party expressed deep concern over the miserable condition of Kashmiris lodged in Tihar jail and urged international human rights groups to take serious note of it.
“The woeful tale of miseries and tortures of Kashmiri prisoners in Tihar jail is a serious concern for us,” the party statement said, adding the jail authorities of Tihar jail are unnecessarily harassing and thrashing detainees on one pretext or the other.
The party expressed deep worry on injuring of Shahid Yousuf, son of Syed Salahuddin and others, inside the jail.
Quoting reports the party said that Shahid Yousuf is among who have been thrashed to pulp. Freedom Party said that the Jail inmates of Tihar jail including party chairman Shabir Shah, who is already suffering from many ailments, are facing life threat.
DFP urged International Red Cross and Amnesty International to take note of the pathetic condition of political detainees especially in Tihar jail, Delhi. (KNS)
