Urge residents to avail benefits of Centrally, State sponsored schemes

Kupwara, Jul 22 (KNS): In order to get the first hand appraisal of public grievances and review the developmental activities executed by various departments, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today chaired a Public Contact Programme at Ashpora and Kultoora areas of Langate constituency.
The District Development Commissioner was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, Pir Muzaffar Ahmad, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Executive Engineer PHE Division Handwara, public representatives and prominent citizens of Ashpora and Kultoora.
During Public Darbar, residents of these areas highlighted the issues pertaining to drinking water, electricity, improvement in developmental activities, repair and renovation of roads, irrigation facilities for agriculture sector, and need for playgrounds towards encouraging youth engagement.
While addressing huge gathering at Kultoora and Ashpora, DDC assured the public that their grievances and genuine demands will be addressed after proper scrutiny within stipulated time frame, while some demands of urgent nature were referred to the concerned departments for immediate redressal.
On the occasion, DC directed Exen PHE Division, Handwara to initiate the work on repairing of Filtration Plant Darbal and complete it within 15 days. He was further directed to ensure immediate measures for providing portable water supply to the residents of Kultoora and restore the water supply, a long pending demand and complete at an earliest.
The district administration assured the people that their demand for upgradation of Safalpora Power Receiving station will be communicated at an earliest to the concerned authorities and fencing of higher secondary school Ashpora will be done on priority.
On the occasion DC also directed Chief Horticulture Officer to ensure availability of better quality seeds to agriculturists of Ashpora. He also directed BDO Langate to start the fencing work on graveyard at Kultoora.
DC visited the Hanjishat bridge which connects Kultoora to the adjacent areas and assured the public that the work on said bridge will begin very soon.
BMO Langate was directed to send a medical team for screening of physical status of school kids.
Meanwhile, the DDC assured that the demand for playground raised by youth of the areas will be considered on priority basis.
While speaking on the occasion, DC urged the residents of Ashpora and Kultoora to avail the benefits of Centrally and State sponsored schemes. (KNS)
