Jammu, Jan 23 (KNS): The government here on Tuesday informed the legislative assembly that it has handed over Kathua girl murder case to the crime branch of the Jammu & Kashmir police department.
According to the KNS correspondent, informing the members of the legislative assembly about government's decision in response to the demands of the opposition, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Abdu Rehman Veeri immediately after the question hour ended told the house that Crime Branch of Jammu & Kashmir police will hold fresh investigation into the murder and rape case of Kathua's minor girl Ashifa Jan.
It is in place to mention here that 8 year old girl Ashifa Jan was murdered and sexually assaulted and her body was recovered from a forest area lying close to the ancestral village of the girl.
The government has initially constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and order a magisterial inquiry later after suspending the local SHO under mounting pressure from the opposition in the assembly and has now handed over the investigation to the Crime Branch of Jammu & Kashmir place.
