Contractors stages protest over non availability of BDOs in Anantnag

Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNS): The contractors of various blocks of Anantnag on Thursday held at protest demonstration in Bijbehara town against the non availability of Block Development Officers (BDO) in various blocks.
According to Kashmir News Service correspondent, the contractors of Bijbehara, Vaghama, Awarni ,Zerpora and Wabzun assembled at Bijbehra and said that their bills are pending due non availability of BDOs in these areas.
The protesting contractors said that there are 16 blocks in which 11 blocks are without the BDOs and added development works are getting affected due the non availability of BDOs.
They further said that, “we have completed different works of RDD department years ago and have to receive payment of these bills,” they said.However when Kashmir News Service contacted concerned ACD Nisar Ahmad Malik, he admitted that there is shortage of BDOs in the district. However he said that they will took up the matter with the higher ups and hopefully all the vacant posts will be fulfilled soon he said.Asked about the pending bills of contractors, he said, “We have to write that to government and once we will receive the funds all the pending bills will be cleared (KNS).
