Take pre-requisite measures in Waltengo Nar to avoid 2005 like situation: Madni to admin

Srinagar, Feb 07 (KNS): Senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Mohammad Sartaj Madni on Thursday has cautioned the Governor administration to take pre-requisite measures in Waltengo Nar in South Kashmir in order to avoid the 2005 like situation in the area.
“In view of the present inclement weather conditions and continuous downpour, I urge the administration to remain alert specifically in Waltengo Nar in South Kashmir where the snow storm in mid February of 2005 destroyed the entire hamlets and killed more than 180 people in a single day,” Madni told KNS over phone.
The PDP leader added that the pre-emptive measures are needed to be taken without delay by the district and divisional administration and the officials concerned must remain on tenterhooks so that the nature’s fury wouldn’t affect the local populace again. (KNS)
