Srinagar, May 23 (KNS): J&K contingent paid employees union affiliated with EJAC today held a massive protest demonstration at Pratap Park Srinagar.
The protest demonstration was addressed by President EJAC Ab Qayoom Wani, Sr vice president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnum, Vice president Shabir Ahmad Langoo, Vice president Syed Wajahat durani, State Media Advisor Pir Nisar Ahmad, Convener Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Distt President EJAC Kupwara Mir Fayaz, State President Contingent Paid employees Nazir Ahmad Rather, vice president Altaf Ahmad and other leaders.
Soon after the address of leaders thousands of Contingent paid employees marched towards civil Secretariat under the leadership of President EJAC Ab Qayoom Wani.
While marching towards Secretariat from Pratap Park thousands of Contingent paid workers were shouting slogans in favour of their justified demands including 50% quota in recent creation of 20000 Chowkidars in Govt schools besides inclusion of Contingent paid employees in SRO 520 and also demanded minimum wages act in their favour.
While marching towards Secretariat heavy contingent of police used Lathicharge in which dozens of workers got injured including a female worker Gulshan from Shopian who lost her two teeth during police action and vice president of Contingent paid employees Altaf Ahmad was severely beaten and later hospitalized.
President EJAC Ab Qayoom Wani was arrested along with other EJAC leaders Fayaz Ahmad Shabnum, Shabir Ahmad langoo, Pir Nisar Ahmad, Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Parvaiz Ahmad, Nazir Ahmad Rather and dozens of Contingent paid employees and were lodged in police station Kothibagh.
Before his arrest Ab Qayoom Wani condemned the police action on poor contingent paid employees in which some ladies also got injured and one of them lost her teeth.
Wani showed full sympathy and solidarity with injured employees during the protest.
Ab Qayoom Wani urged upon Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Finance Minister Syed Mohd Altaf Bukhari, Education Minister Chowdhary Zulfiqar Ali for their immediate intervention for providing justice to this downtrodden section of employees, otherwise EJAC will chalk out future course of action in favour of these poor employees.
Wani assured contingent paid employees that EJAC will always remain at their back and will never put them alone in their struggle. (KNS)
