Congress District President Irfan Naqeeb resigns from party Says will join Bukhari led political outfit

Srinagar, Mar 07 (KNS): Senior Congress leader and District President Srinagar Irfan Naqeeb on Saturday resigned from the party and said he is keen willing to serve people at local level and join Altaf Bukhari led political outfit.
According to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Naqeeb, in a letter issued to Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir reads, “I hereby tender my resignation from INC as a member and as a District President Srinagar. I thank you for giving me an opportunity to work for INC”.
Naqeeb told KNS that central level leadership of Congress didn’t allow state congress to work for the betterment of people. He also said that even state president Mir sahib did every effort to serve local people but it didn’t suit party’s central leadership.
While hailing the efforts of state party president G A Mir, Naqeeb further said, I myself have decided to quit the party and will serve people at local level onwards.
When asked whether he will join former PDP leader Syed Altaf Bukhari led new political outfit, Naqeeb said, yes he will.
“Yes, I will join Bukhari led new political outfit. There are like-minded people having sound political background to serve people at regional level”, he said.
It is pertinent to mention that Naqeeb’s resignation from party has come at a juncture when former PDP leader Syed Altaf Bukhari is scheduled to launch his own political party on March 8 in Srinagar.
Meanwhile two more congress leaders from Jammu division on Saturday have quit party’s J&K unit.
Former minister and District President Samba Sardar Manjit Singh and Jammu District President Vikram Malhotra told media that they quit the INC because the party had become virtually “dysfunctional” and “irrelevant” in the region. (KNS).
